Sup Sal,
I live in BC. Anyways the swap is underway. An A3 tranny in an A1 with an A2 
GTI engine!!!

Any suggestions on other things I should be looking at while the work is 
being done?

Where in Canada do you live?  If you're near Toronto, I can recommend a
couple of places.  First off, go with the standard tranny.  It makes a
world of a difference.
