Hey, don't buy a new one just yet!!  I thought mine was broken too, but
just the valve was jammed.  Mine was stuck on blowing semi-hot air since
January, which is great for winter, but no so for the Atlanta summer.

Look in the engine compartement near coolant resevoir.  You will see a
wire (not electrical) that comes through the firewall and connects to a
valve on a coolant hose that also runs into the firewall.  Just close or
open it (i assume close) as you wish.

If you really want to fix it, it looks easy enough to disconnect the
in-line valve and clean it out, but i haven't done it yet.
