Temporary Failure

Problem: On start-up, it's difficult to accelerate. What I mean is that
when I accelerate (or push on the gas pedal while in neutral) the car seems
to stumble/miss. Put simply, the car buckles and it sounds like it wants to
shut off. Once it has warmed up, I have no problems. Occassionally, I
have a hard time to start it.

Done so far: new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new spark plugs, KN air filter.

Engine: 1.8l from 83 GTi

I don't know what else to look at. I have been thinking about the warm-up
regulator. Is there something else that I should also look into. Coil?
Distributor? Wires? Fuel distributor? Please help....
