yes, agreed, but there is a screen in the pick up housing in the bottom of
the tank too.  I know, I had to cut into my gas tank to repair the rubber
hose that connects the side metal tube to the fuel pick up assembly.
Anyone know why VW made the inner tube metal the outer tube metal and the
hose that connects them rubber, instead of one big metal tube?  I had a
stall in a right hand turn that I finally figured out after two months of
trouble.  Finally figured it out after filling my car up.  I probably
would have noticed earlier but 1 tank of gas can last a long time when
stationed in the marines in hawaii.  talk about never having to drive
anywhere......
