drag strip times

I just went to the strip this saturday too!
I made about 10 or 12 runs and got consistant 15.4's @ "78" mph on 15"
street tires. I find the 78 mph hard to believe, I think the MPH gear was
screwed up cuz on 11 runs I got 76-78 mph and on ONE run with the same ET I
got 88 mph. And the last time I was at the strip I got 15.7's at 87-88mph.
I was through the traps I was at about 6500rpm in third on my FF tranny. W/
195/50 15's my speed should be around 88mph.

My reaction times were great and consistant too, .600 lights all day long.

The secret is to stage deep and leave right at the last yellow. works like
a charm, didn't red light once.

one run in particular was AWESOME! It was me and a riced out (lowered,
clear corner lenses, chrome wheels too big for it..) newer style Mustang.
the 96 type body style with a 4.6l 32valve engine.

WINNER .172

This was an insane run! Here's how it went:
I staged first and just waited for him. As soon as my enemy lit up the
second staging light I revved it to 5000 rpm and held it steady. the tree
started going, and the second the last yellow lit up, I slipped the clutch
at about 5500 rpm. With very little wheelspin, I was in second gear before
I knew it shifting at 7200 rpm. I knew the rustang was back there, but I
also knew he'd have a top end chage on me so I kept on it and hoping I got
a good enough launch. A shift into third at 7000 rpm about halfway down the
track and he's still not in my peripheral vision thank god.
I just kept on the gas and at the end of the track I saw him pass me
slowly, but was hoping we had already passed the finish. I didn't know who
won until we got the time slips, and boy was that suprising--we both got
the exact same ET! the better reaction time on my part was all it took.

What a fun day
