blew out gauge cluster!

Today while my car was running, I pulled out my voltmeter from my 3-gauge
panel, 'cause the retaining ring has fallen off the back and I was peering behind trying to see if I could find it.  While holding it in my hand, all of a sudden BLAM! I lost all 3 gauges.  No idea why, didn't touch any wires to anything.. all other electrics are fine.  Where/how is this stuff fused?
I have the semi-usual VDO package of oil press/volt/oil temp added into
the former glove box space.  Help Mr Wizard!
