Tech question

Hey all...have a question if any of you have had experience with a
particular problem I have run into.

Car is my roommates 1984 Scirocco Automatic...it's the small fuel
tank/large spare 84 (early 84 model), so I assume it does not have the
troublesome transfer pump.

Here is the problem, cold starts are funky, runs on 3 cyls for a minute
then clears out.  After warm up, idle is bouncy and when first
accelerating acts like it's running on 3 cyls for just a second or two,
then smooths out....problem seems to only creep up in low rpms.  Car has
good power and otherwise runs excellent...just looking for advise on where
to start.  The car was owned by a BMW tech for the past 12 years, and has
been taken care of, it is in excellent shape.  My first thought was the
oxy sensor, and possibly the fifth injector leaking....what do you all
think?
