RE: Lowering

well if you are going for this, the EASIEST way to lower your car is to
clamp two coils of each spring together. (on my scirocco i only
lowered the front to bring it down so the car rode level and not with
the nose sticking up). i bought 4 cable clamps, and 8 hose clamps. use
the hose clamps to clamp down two of the front coils (two on each side
with just enough space in between to put the cable clamp on later). i
know you are thinking "no way are you going to clamp down a spring with
hose clamps", but i've owned 4 cars and did this to all 4. when the
coils are close enough to put the cable clamp on, put one cable clamp on
each side of the spring and tighten it. so there you have it, the
absolute cheapest and easiest way to lower your car without $$$$$ or
cutting or dismantling anything.... i did this to mine right when i
got it (7 years ago) still on there, although my shocks are shot. let
me say that although it looks much better that stock, rides better than
stock, it is NO substitute for correct lower springs and shocks. my
shocks are worn out probably because of the lower ride height and i
guess because they are still the original struts. i'm still planning on
getting some bilsten sports with H&R's.... but money is tight. soon...
 very soon......
