Hmmm -  I looked at that spoiler - it is my opinion that it is not a
factory Scirocco chin spoiler. It may be the A1 Golf GTi spoiler.

As far as factory Scirocco chin spoilers go, starting in 1977 or so, U.S.
Sciroccos were equiped with the same chin spoilers as the Euro Scirocco
GTi. Kristen's '78 has this chin spoiler. The Scirocco GTi started using
the Zender spoiler (AKA "S" spoiler in the U.S. in about 1978. This
appeared in 1979 on the limited edition Scirocco 5 speed (basically came
with "S" trim and paint), and on the 1980 & 1981 "S" models. (The "S" may
have started in 1979, but all my literature indicates that the "S" badge
did not appear until 1980).  Anyway, all Sciroccos sold in the U.S. from
1977-1981 (except for the above mentioned models) came with the chin
spoiler.
