Step on brake, engine revs

Has any one experienced this? And is this normal?

When i pump the brake pedal and my car is in neatral and idleing my
rpm's go up.
The other day when i was stopped at a stop light i got my idle from
1200
to 1800
just by pumping the brake. And no, i wasnt hitting the gas, just the
break.
