-- I had my Corrado for three and a half years and only had to change the oil
and replace the timing belt, the clutch slave cylinder, and the waterpump.

Actually, I was sitting at a stoplight one afternoon when I was rearended
and thrown into the car in front of me. Being that I had just paid off my
car and thus reduced my coverage a few weeks earlier and that the Mexican
gentleman who hit me was driving without a license or insurance, I was left
flush out of luck. The body shop proceeded to tell me that beyond the
massive body damage both front and rear (I was thrown into the car in front
of me at an angle) my frame was bent. I would have been looking at around
$6,000.00 in repairs. I never recieved a penny in compensation for my
losses.

When I was hit, my car had 72k on the clock. It ran perfectly, I had
just had that kit installed (I forgot who sells it) that eliminates that
horrible dashboard vibration that G60s have after about 50k between 2000 and
4500 rpms. It was emerald green, had tinted windows and was fully loaded
(leather, ABS, etc.). I was absolutely in love with that car. It was very
pleasant to drive, was nice and quiet, and made commuting to work as close to
pleasurable as it could be.

But that car lacked a certain charm that my 16v Scirocco has. I bought
the Scirocco about 6 months ago as I cannot afford to go out and replace the
Corrado, but I have not been dissapointed. While it is definetely rougher
around the edges than the Corrado as far as drivability is concerned, it has
a much sportier feel to it and puts me back in my seat more when I take off
as well.

That's my take on the Corrado vs Scirocco 16v issue. I don't really find
the two cars comparable. But since I have always been partial to louder,
sportier cars, the Scirocco is my personal choice.

    Just my .02 :) :)
