Re: carbing?

I got a used set of Webers (side-drafts) and a matching intake (EuroSport) that I ran on a 1.6L Rabbit ("Road Rabbit From Hell Project"). You will have to constantly "tweak & tune" the carbs and the "flat-spot" will never completely go away! REAL GOOD top-end acceleration (comes on like turning on a light switch.... all at once), but a major pain in the ass to keep in tune!

If you are looking for a Weber down-draft conversion, this is a common IT and "Club Rabbit"  modification. Go to http://www.teleport.com/~belfanti/ or http://www.spiretech.com/~vw6spd/clubrabbit.htm for details. This mod uses an early manifold and an adapter plate. To tune the down-draft, find yourself a local Formula Ford 1600 "Guru" and he should be able to assist in dialing in the carb.

Subject: carbing?

ok, truth be told, I do not like fuel injection.  I like carbs.  I know some early mk1's came with carbs, is it possible (or even a good idea) to carb my 78?  it has a 1.8l engine, but it shouldn't be too hard to do it if I can get my hands on the propper intake.  Has anyone taken this on? or does anyone have any pointers (other than 'yer an idiot, fi is the only way to go')?

thanx in advance!

All i think i need is a good intake and a weber carb or something..........
