I believe the passenger mirror was an option, not sure.

standard on all of 'em '80 Sciroccos.

Front spoiler?  Possibly, though even the non-S cars had a
small chin spoiler.

All S 'rocs had 5 speeds, but they were an option on the
standard models.

Things to look for to determine if it was an S:

-Black dash face instead of fake woodgrain.
-Large bolstered seats - '80 S had horizontal stripes that
got thicker towards the center of the seat.
-Black outside trim such as doorhandles, window surrounds
and rain gutter trim.
-Special striping on the side of the car.
-Red VW emblem in the grille.
-Red Scirocco S badge in the rear hatch.
