Painting a Rocco

Well, I gotta spare hood and it needs some paint and I got the shit to do
it. Just wondering if anyone has ever filled in the hood vents for a
cleaner look... anyone? Also, anyone got any tips for painting? My dad is
gonna' help me and he has painted cars before, but any advice would be
welcomed... The hood will be a practice run before I spray the whole car...
