    i'd have to agree with anthony on that one.  i thought that the new
trannies would be a little taller.  i can't remember who told me to do so,
but i checked vw.com, and got the specs, in case anyone was curious:

99+ jetta gl:
1st 3.78:1
2nd 2.12:1
3rd 1.36:1
4th 1.03:1
5th 0.84:1
Reverse 3.06:1
Final Drive 4.24:1

99+ jetta gl TDI
1st 3.78:1

    is anyone else excited??  wow, a 4.24 and a 3.39 final drive is now
available!!  and there's finally something other than a 3.45 first gear...

    i guess my next question is: will these trannies mount up to our old 4
bangers?  better still, will the internals be swappable with our old
ones????  anyone???  thanks.
