considering only power - a good header wins easily.

The factory dual outlet manifold/downpipe offers the advantage of
durability and less noise [than the somewhat loud header]. Some headers
are known to crack from flex . . .

IMHO, unless you are racing competitively, the dual manifold/downpipe
is the way to go. The benefits from a header are limited . . . (not
that much more than a good dual outlet/dp system).

Whatever motor I put in the MK2 (this fall), I will use a euro dual
exhaust manifold and a good down-pipe.
