Re: Power steering boots tech?

Aaron,
I have replace the boot on the drivers side of an '80 'rocco. Not an
easy job. It required two people to do. One under the car and the other on
top getting to it from the engine bay. The space to work in for the inner
seal is very small about the size of your fist. I used the end of a tooth
brush to help get it on. You have to work it around a little at a time.
Took about 40min a major pain in the ass. Swearing makes you fell better
but doesn't help get the boot on. Patience is the key. The passengers side
looks to be a little easier.

You also need a bearing puller to get the tie rod out of the steering
knuckle. You can use a pickle-fork but you may ruin the boot that covers
the ball joint.

BTW I'm new to the group.
