Re: motor oil , which one??

Glad to see you made it "back".

I'd stick with the 10W-40 until after the break-in period. The organics allow
more friction and a bit more wear than the synthetics BUT during the break-in
period, this is a good thing.

I'm a big fan of synthetics b/c of their flow characteristics - in other
words, they always flow like water but provide consistent, stable lubrication.
If you're looking for a way to keep costs low AND you change your oil
frequently, you may want to consider a synthetic/organic blend.

As for oil weights, that's a personal choice issue. I've run 5W-30, 10W-40,
15W-40, and 20W-50 in my car and haven't been able to notice much difference.
Now that the motor has been freshened, I'm still running 10W-40 organic for at
least the first race and will probably switch to 10W-40 synthetic. For a
street car, if you're doing a great deal of city driving in hot temperatures,
go with the 20W-50 for the summer months and scale back to 10W-40 for the
winter.
