RPM's...MFA?

Hey everyone,

I was talking to these local VW idiots (who 
think they know everything, in reality they 
don't know shit) and they tell me that there
is a way you can screw with the MFA to get an
exact RPM reading. But this on his 92 GTi. Has
anyone else heard of something like this?
