Yeah,but the prblem is that the hose will intake dirty air. And you'll get
dirty air in the engine. Thats not good.   What I did on my old 1.7 is I
just unhooed that hose, capped off the airbox hole, and I put a 'crankcase
breather filter' in the end on the hose. You can get them for like 1 dollar
at an autoparts store. I cut it to fit, and jammed it in the end of the
hose. Make sure it's a tight fit so it doesn't get blown out or sucked in. 
The filter isn't that great though, it definately wont get as small of
peices of dirt as your air filter, so I just connected it back to the air
box with this new motor. 

I have the plastic cam cover that's supposed to stop the oil from puking up
into the airbox, and it works better, but doesn't stop it completely. I
think I'll jam another crankcase breather in the hose, and hook it back up
so the filter soaks up the oil, instead of running all over the t-body,
airflow meter and vavles and stuff.

BTW I wouldn't let the oil just run into the intake if I were you. On my
old engine, when I pulled off the intake, there was a coating of oil
residue about 3-5mm think around the whole intake, choking off the runners
and everything. It's horrible! It's in the intake ports in the head too,
and coats the valves(That might've been carbon build up)
