Re: strut bearings

Word has it that there are some truly junk bearings out there...
supposedly, they fail within a couple of hundred miles. I have a friend
who replaced his about a year ago on his Rabbit pickup, and they have since
failed. I just replaced mine a few weeks ago, and I'm keeping a good eye
on them... we'll see what happens...

I have no idea what makes them fail so quickly, but I hear that there are
some REALLY high quality strut bearings for race purposes that are supposed
to be more durable than OEMs... anyone know anything about these?

Oh... and a good tip to tell if they've failed or not... if you can stick
your fingers under them, they're bad... provided you have average sized
fingers, and not like corn dog stick fingers or something...
