Yes. I've adjusted my valves, driven the car 6000 miles and two
autocrosses and had to adjust them again:). In fact, my valves probably
were adjusted no more than 2000 miles ago(and several autocrosses), they're
ticking a bit.

Could be. Check the shims, see if they're off again - I would'nt be at
_all_ surprised if they need adjusted again. I probably adjust mine 2-3
times a year, which is probably overkill, but thats how often I do it:).

AFAIK, the inner spring is the one that breaks when it does. Also, I've
been told they make a good bit of noise - the implication was that one
would not mistake a broken spring for misadjustment. I've never heard one,
so I don't _know_. I guess what you could do is take the cam out, push on
each valve, see if one is obviously broken - if it is, take some soft nylon
rope, 3/16" thick, feed it into that cylinder, fill the CC with the rope to
hold the valve in place. That works to get centrifugal clutches off karts,
I'd guess it'd hold the valve up just fine, not do any damage. Easier than
getting ahold of one of those air compressior dealies.
