Re: [tech 16v] timing and compression

Ryan,

is it a consistent miss- I mean is 1 cylinder definently the culprit?
(fire, fire, fire, miss; fire, fire, fire, miss.. etc) or is it running like a top fuel
dragster?
Any backfiring through the intake?

(fuel filter replaced?)
Check your injector spray pattern-
it should be a nice even mist no streams or drips.
email me if you need to know how to perform the test!

I dont think it is the head gasket, as running that poorly
would mean a pretty badly blown gasket, and there would either be
white smoke out the exhaust, or water in the oil.

All vacuum lines good? air bellows from fuel distributor to
intake tight and checked for cracks?
(you need to take it off and bend it around to find any cracks)
is all that is attached to the air intake boot good?
try this- unplug and then plug back in your computer.
(resets it)
Coil good?- (measured with an ammeter)

LMK how things are going-& GOOD LUCK!

        Percy.

ok, cam timing is good, i finally found the cam sprocket hash mark,
lined it up at the valve cover wedge, looked down, saw the hash mark
on the crank pully, it liked up perfectly with the arrow on the
plastic cover.

soo..dang where does this leave me?

I guess i need to gas analyze the overflow tank for a headgasket
leak? only thing is it was running great before i hosed down the
engine bay (covering alt, dist, +) like ive done prob 20 times. So
i thought i fried something like the dist. or electrical, which i
still think it is since its just running 'rough'

guess i'll go double check for spark at each plug. because it really
feels like its running on 3 cyls..well the lack of power and rough,
very rough idle.
