RE: Windshield

Ja, I replaced mine earlier this month. If you opt to buy a new piece of glass, expect to pay about $300 for
it. A new seal will run you around $250. Scary.
In the interest of saving money, I found a good windshield at my local wrecking yard. Not a Sekurit made in
Germany, rats, but a PPG brand one, which is OK. Cost me $35, including the seal.
If your current seal is in good shape (not leaking, looks good, doesn't turn your towel black when you dry
your car after a wash), remove the windshield very carefully. Then you can reuse your seal. Be forewarned,
there is a set of metal teeth around the perimeter of the window aperature, which serve to hold the inner part
of the seal where it belongs. Getting the thing installed is, in my experience, very difficult. I farmed the job
out to a local auto glass installer. Prices locally ranged from $35 to $210 for labor to put the thing in. I paid
$40 for a reputable shop to do it.
If you get stuck in need of a windshield seal, I have a pretty good used one which could be sold cheaply to
cover shipping and a Heineken.

Good Luck!
