Hello, everyone.
I'm new to this group and find it overwhelming in a helpful sort of way.
Any rate, I have an '86 8v, which is in excellent shape and fine fettle =
apart from one nagging problem: 'round about 2500 rpm, a slight miss =
develops. This only is noticable when decelerating, or driving at =
constant throttle at that rev range. The car bucks slightly, and it's =
quite annoying. =20
To try to cure the problem, I went out and boxloads of new Bosch stuff: =
plugs, wires, cap, rotor, coil (thinking it's an ignition fault), even =
the control module (not the Motronic box, but the chip mounted on the =
heatsink next to it). Installed all this stuff, still she misses.
Then I went and got the fuel system stuff: injectors, injector seals, =
fuel filter, and a main pump. they went in nicely, but still...
So, I am running out of parts to replace. I also put in new vacuum =
hoses throughout (the car is getting newer as it ages!) but to no avail.
Anyone had this problem? I mean, the miss? Could it perhaps be a =
plugged cat? I have no experience as to how that affects the Scirocco, =
but maybe one of you might know a thing or two.
This is rather embarrassing, as, being an engineer, I ought to have =
figured this out by now. The Bentley manual hasn't been much help, =
either.
Again, the car is a California-spec '86 8v with stock motor systems.

Danke,
Dave
