Well, lots of people put fake badges on their cars, that really doesn't mean
anything, and the fact that he didn't completely make the car into a 16v copy
doesn't mean anything either, as long as he put the 16v engine in correctly
(swapped over the fuel management system and all).
The only way you're really going to be able to tell if you're "just going to
have problems with it" is by looking at the car- does this guy look like he
knows what he's doing? Is it a clean swap? Are there any crazy things hanging
where they shouldn't be?
    Who knows?
