Short shift / tranny

The following questions arose after reading(on .org) that Jason and Brett have short shift kits, and Mike Helms page (www.continuum.org/helms) has a section called "make your own short shift".

Mike's page mentions that it applies to all MKI and MKII's. After reading daily posts, and speaking to Potterman, 16V's are considered MKII's.

Question 1: On the Helm's page, are 16v's categorized under the MKII for this project?

Question 2: What does the list have to say about this, what seems to be cool, procedure of creating a short shift?

Q3: If by following this exact procedure, by how much would there be a throw reduction?

Q4: My Dad still works as a machinist with all types of stainless steel and aluminum, How does "creating" our own sound?

Q5: What would be your "ideal/realistic throw reduction percentage" if you were driving daily, traffic light to traffic light city driving, and wanted to beat people off the line and head down the straight away? 25%, 45%, 65%, etc???

Q6: Who makes a good short shift kit and why? ABD, Autotech, etc??

TIA
Rich
