Re: FW: Lights (relays and higher wattage bulbs)

The only reason I suggest at least 3 is so you have seperate circuits
for your lows because they are infact the most important ones to protect.
You could use a single 30 amp unit for your highs, but should you have
100w on the H4 and 100w on the H1 you will probably exceed the rated
amperage for a 30 amp unit. I didnt want to have any problems, not so say
you will with 2 relays, but I went ahead and installed a relay for each hi
and each low. This way I can upgrade the wattage and not worry about
frying my relay.

  The only reason why

As for higher wattage bulbs, I have had 1 person flash me with 55/60
and 1 person flash me with 80/100. With my Hellas, the cut-off is so
visible, I can simply aim it below the eyes of oncoming drivers. I get
more glare from trucks with their 55 watters than cars get with my 80 watt
lows. People often mistake higher wattage with more blinding effects,
which is true only at high beam. I will say however if you go and get
these "hyperwhite" bulbs even in a lower wattage, they seem to offend
drivers more than my Hella H4 80 watt low beams. Not sure what it is, if
its poor bulb geometry or if it just happens to be something to do with
the light spectrum. All I will say is that there is a bit of difference
looking at the H4 with 80 versus 55, but it isnt enough to get flashed
about. But, once you get under the line, you can bet that you will get
flashed, so keep those lines down a bit. You might figure that when it
rains people would flash me more, but being up in the Seattle area where
it rains 75% of the time, I dont get flashed at all. There ya go!
