RE: Auxilliary lighting questions

They were from what looked like an 86-90 Volvo 240 Turbo Sedan.
They came with these HUGE ASS 90-degree bent metal bars that had been
screwed in through a hole under the fender into the body of the car. I
got them from the parts yard because they were only $10, and even if I
have to replace the bulbs, it'll still be cheaper than buying new ones,
and these are in pretty good shape.
I removed them from these bars, and what I ended up with were
the individual lights, mounted on little mounts that allows full
rotational mounting. In other words, I can aim them up or down, left or
right, by loosening one of two bolts, adjusting the light, and then
retightening. These LITTLE mountings are what was screwed into that
metal bar. They had a bolt about 3 inches long out of the top of it,
and a bolt to secure it into something.
When I got down under the front of my car, I noticed two holes
on the bottom of the front bumper, just offset to the sides of center of
my car, one left side, one right. When I tried one, the bolt fit in
their PERFECTLY, and the lights fit perfectly, side by side. I'm not
sure if the previous owner had lights mounted there, or not, but the
holes are perfect for it.
Normally, however, you would have to drill holes into your
bumper (if you choose to mount them there) to place them in, and the
bolts for the lights, since they're effectively INSIDE the bumper, are
hard to reach unless you've removed the bumpers, but not impossible.

After that, it's just a matter of wiring. I think I'm going to write up
how I did it all, and post it to scirocco.org when I'm done, and I'll
take some pictures if I can get a nice day to do it.

P.S.: The benefit (aside from aesthetics) is increased lighting for
those REALLY dark roads around here. Okay, okay, they just look cool.
