Just to get a little picky . . . 

VW used 3 different types of 9.4" calipers on the Scirocco in the USA.

The 1975-1979 Sciroccos came with either Teves or Girling Calipers. These
CANNOT be upgraded to vented. The swept area is smaller than the
Kelsey-Hayes, and generally suck when compared to the K-H.

All 1980 & up 8V Sciroccos came with Kelsey-Hayes calipers. These can be
upgraded to vented (assuming it came with solids) by simply swapping
vented discs and pads.

Scirocco 1978 (upgraded to K-H!)

Entirely different beasts.  Different size, manufacturer, set-up, etc. 
The
calipers for the 9.4 vented are the same as the 9.4 non-vented though.
