VW started 16v's in the US at '86.5. '88 was the last year, as far as I know. Maybe
there were a few '89's, but not many (this applies to the US only). Not all '87's
are 16v. There were a few 8v's. Putting a 16v into an 8v car requires changing the
engine wiring harness, engine management stuff, etc...
