RE: sub box?

I have a homemade box with ONE dinky 8 inch sub in the back,
which is plenty of beat. You're gonna go deaf, dude. :)

Seriously, Building the box isn't that hard. You need some good
soild wood, although decent plywood would do it. Two holes in one side,
and enough space between them (inside and outside) to screw them to the
board, a couple of 10-inch speaker covers (recommended, unless you like
replacing Subs), one LARGE AMP and a LOT of thick wire. My Box (which
is essentially square was built so that the Sub, if you were to look at
a X-section of the box, only took up the first 2/3 of the box, and the
rear one third is an open space, which allowed me to mount the AMP to
the BACK of the Sub So the cable run to the Amp was Short, and I lost no
thumping power. Also, all the wiring connections can go in the back
open area of the box. The entire box was cut so it's exactly the same
height as the rear sill of the hatch, which allows the bottom to rest
nicely on the floor of the hatch, and the top is bolted, via a metal
plate with two sets of screws, from the hatch sill to the top of the
enclosure. That was, it vibrates through the car as well as the air,
and doesn't fly around and damage itself. It because it doesn't have
any fully enclosed spaces, it gets good sound AND cooling. Once I
finish up rewiring and cleaning (and hopefully getting the new kicker
box in this week, I'll take some pictures. I have a kicker I THINK will
fit in place of the rear seat. Muahahah. Praise Deity for 400W amps.
