RE: engine mods



Some '84s came with close ratio tranny's (wolfsburg editions did i think)
- - some did not. Which means they (the close ratios) may or may not have
had the 100mm outlet flanges. I don't think the wide ratio cars in '84
had 100mm flanges. The acid test is to look to see what's on your car -
AFAIK there is no clear cut cutoff. 

The crazy thing is that I just got a tranny chart which shows Euro tranny
charts - apparently VW had a close ratio w/100mm drive flanges as early
as 8/79 - if you believe the chart (FM, FD, FK trannies) - weird eh?

	Then after that they all did. I think 84 and later Rabbits had
them too. Not sure about 84 Rocs.
