Changing Speedometer mileage

Does anyone know how/ or have they changed the mileage on a speedometer?
I'm asking this because I want to use a 16v speedo and cables in my
Scirocco because 1. I'm going to running larger diameter wheels/tires 2 it
goes up to 140mph and 3. I would like for the mileage on the oddometer to
be accurate if possible.  Yes I connected the tip of the gear(that goes
into the tranny) to my drill and tried that, but I don't think it's worth
1000 hours on the drill to move it 14k miles.  Any ideas?
