speedo took a dump

I'm hoping the impact jolted the cable out of the back of the
speedometer. If this is the case just plug it back in.

My speedo took a dump yesterday.. I had just hit a fairly nasty lip in
the road where pavement is being redone (didn't bend any rims thankfully)
shortly before noticing I no longer had the speedo.. I think maybe the
jolt killed it. Is the problem likely to just be the cable, and is it
an easy fix? Or other likely causes?
