RE: Desert Wind



The rear wing on a 85+ Scirocco II is quite heavy.  A friend of mine took one 
off the hatch to start making a mold for a fiberglass wing.  I couldn't 
believe how heavy it was.  It weighs at LEAST 10 pounds (although nowhere 
near 50).  I'm guessing, obviously, but there is only *one* way to find out 
for sure:  put it on a scale and weigh it!

It's funny... when you pop the hatch, the gas charged hatch lifters REALLY 
seem powerful because they don't have the weight of the rear wing to support. 
 Damn thing almost took my head clean off!  ((just kidding)
