Yeah, Colorado does not use salt, good for rust/bolts, but they "sand."
Sand, at least in Colorado, equals small rocks.  The front of my bumper was
smooth and black when I got the car, but now it's silver, pitted and bumpy.
Been here 5 years.  The leading edge of the hood is basically white(car is
red).  Been through 4 windshields since moving here, need a fifth, as the
current one is pitted and has cracks all across it.  Nothing you can do
about it.  I'm a skier, so I drive a bit in the winter - it destroys the
front end of the car.  Oh well!
