No your not wrong but you need to remember the "hassle" factor of 
running around to machine shops & parts places. Really if you have 
extra time then save the money & do it yourself / local.

Most of VW's systems can handle around 170-1??? hp so if your 
shooting for 300 you may have to go with something non factory.

That extra 100 hp is going to be the kicker, You may try just the 
motor first.  I've driven a couple of 2.1 16v's & there plenty fast & 
full of torque in both scirocco's & golfs.

Yes It will bolt right up but if your going nuts with this thing try 
looking for a Scirocco 16v 50mm intake manifold.
