The 2500 I quoted was for a shortblock with under 25,000km on it,
installed.  Yeah, it would be better to do it like you suggest (rebuild it
properly) but there aren't that many 2.0 blocks floating around here; the
majority of them are bought as soon as they become available by a handful
of tuning shops in town.  So you takes what you can gets...:(

Woe is me, but at least I'm sitting here drinking my cheaper + stronger
