Unless you make sure the thief can't reach the heavy cable to the starter
from underneath, he can still short out the battery, thereby disabling the
alarm. Seems I heard that some crooks also will drill through the battery
from below - let it drain, then the alarm is dead, too. A separate battery
foils these tricks.

There is a contact in the wiper motor that opens just before the blade gets
to the 'park' position. This might need adjusting to fix the parking problem.

The '83 only wipes once per push for me, too, but my Vanagon has some sort
of latching relay - you push once, the wiper goes every 30 seconds until you
push again. Holding the lever back gives wash just like the Scirocco. Maybe
you could adapt this system to your car?
