Alternator questions......

Hi all - I recently got a rebuilt Bosch alternator from a friend.  He had
just put it onto his 84 Wburg Scirocco(270k and immaculate, pretty
impressive), but then decided to put a 16v into it, so all of a sudden he
had a "new" alternator he did not need.  So, I have it, thanks to Kevin's
donation of his fried alternator.  My Motorola 65 amp on my 84 GTI/AC(ac
now removed) car is dying - the bearings are starting to rattle.  It
appears that the plug is different between the two alternators - has anyone
made this "conversion?"  Are the plugs the same, or will I have to cut the
plug off the stock wires and use the Bosch plug?  Any help is appreciated -
I'm OK with suspensions/performance stuff, but my Rabbit has been bomber
reliable, so I don't really know my stuff when it comes to simple things
like this.  TTYS!
