Ummm - who told you to go without the cat? how are you connecting the oxygen 
sensor?  What year is your car, I assume you have an 8v.  I would never 
recommend going without the cat - I guarantee you've lost some low end power - 
who knows about 6000 RPM - but how long are you up there? I am not surprised 
it's leaking - I got a cheap downpipe/cat for my 16v and it leaks a little 
too.  I'm of course going to recommend getting a correct fitting dp/cat,
