Rear discs, and e brakes

hey 16v guys and 8v conversions,
   I was just wondering how are your e brakes?  All the rear disc cars I know
of seem to have weak e brakes.  Anyone know why?  My e brake is pretty good
by comparison and it wont get close to locking them up on pavement.  Drums
seem to be a little better.  Now if I could get a e brake like a GM car,
those rock!
