Transfer pump??

Help!

My car won't start!

I have traced not having any gas all the way back to the fuel tank.  In my Old golf, I once changed the tranfer pump by unscrewing a "cap" where the wires/hoses exit.  The Scirocco dosent have the screw on thing?  

How do I get the transfer pump out? 

If I remove either of the two hoses from the top of the tank, no fuel comes out. I allso read 12 volts or so at the connector. This makes me think the transfer pump is on the blink.
