 The compressor will not come on if the charge is LOW. The system
doesn't have to be empty for the compressor to not work. As a matter of
fact, you can jump the compressor to the battery and often get
reasonably cold air... Until the compressor locks up that is. The
pressure switch is there for a reason. Even if it runs for a while
jumped, remember you are wearing it more quickly.
