Talk with Mark at Adirondack Auto (see: http://205.247.146.107:80/vw/). He
can get you a good deal on the Robert Bentley Scirocco Manual.
This is *the* book to have, kinda like The Oracle. If you can find one used
 or whatever, that's good too.

Not being at all mechanicallly inclined prior to obtaining my Scirocco,
I've found this to the most useful thing I've gotten so far. It gives
troubleshooting charts, step-by-step repairs, and
buku other info that you need to learn most of what you need to know.

(Ok, I'm a geek and actually sit down to read parts of it occaisionally
without anything wrong on the vehicle, but hey....) >;->

Instrument panel dimmer. Yours must be broken. I haven't gotten into that
area yet, so I don't know what to check, but it should be relatively
simple.

Dunno! My 87 doesn't have one of those.....Fog lights maybe?
