Never done a heater core myself, however this may or may not aid you scirocco
fellas.  The A2's had a heater core recall from something like 85-89.  Just
call the dealer and give them your vin, they'll run it through a computer and
tell you if you are good to get a free one.  I just dropped my car off and
picked it up that night.
