synthetic oil (not a debate!)

Wow. Just changed to synthetic 2500 miles ago, after much reading and
contemplating. Before the synthetic, I had a valve cover gasket leak,
bad. It was just sorta flowing over the entire front edge of the head
and down the motor. Needless to say, this left a nasty, gunky, sludgy
residue all over the front of the motor, looked like your basic leaky oil
130K car. Now... with the synthetic oil, it leaks, worse, I heard it's
supposed to (might be because I took off the cover and put it back on) .
That's fine, don't really care since a new seal is in the mail. What I
thought was cool is that now the front of the engine where all this oil
(a quart every 1000) has been leaking down, is perfectly shiney clean!!!
Looks like it just came out of the damn cast! I wonder what's happening
on the inside? Anyway, just wanted to share my synth experience on an
old engine. Please don't start the standard debate. I'm not saying
anthing other what I saw it do to the outside of my engine, and we all
know how important the appearance of the outside of the block is to ultra
high performance. Later.
