        Polypropolyne glycol is supposed to be very effective when used in
the Mecca system, I remember the VW&P article on it when it came out.
Basically it's just very efficient cooling, which serves to prevent
pre-ignition (knock).  You could also use lower temp thermo stat and switch
and use something like Water Wetter by Red Line.  The Water Wetter just
reduces the surface energy of your coolant allowing better thermal transfer,
basically it's like soap, but I wouldn't put soap into my radiator.  

For those of you who care:
Ethelyne Glycol- standard coolant, poisonous
Polyethelyne Glycol- found in Dr. Pepper, amazing what happens when you
polymerize that monomer!
Polypropolyne glycol-  also a food additive
