The turbo was a Stateside option.  It could be fitted to all of the A1
cars.  IĘhave read about it in VW and Porsche twice ( I think that was
the nameat the time) and in VWĘtrends.

The VWĘtrends issue was about 5 years ago. I think Turbo City? had
bought Legend tooling and was producing the kit with a more modern
turbo. It cost about $1800 It had no intercooler and low boost 8psi or
so but an otherwise unmodified motor was good for 125 hp (plus or minus
10)  they said the car ran like a "scalded boar".  They said it was a
long weenkend project the most difficult part was tapping the oilreturn.
They made no est. on power figures on modified motors.
